How this works: Total remuneration = Basic+DA + Allowances + Gratuity/retrenchment component. The 50% threshold is half of that total. If Allowances exceed the threshold, the excess is added back to Basic+DA to arrive at your revised statutory wage under the Code on Wages, 2019. Gratuity and retrenchment compensation are themselves excluded from the 50% test, per the Ministry’s clarification.
